Tranmere Rovers are delighted to confirm the signing of Regan Hendry on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell from Forest Green Rovers last season.
Hendry made 19 appearances for Rovers after joining on a temporary deal in January, and impressed fans with his composed displays in central midfield.
Amidst demand for his signature following those impressive performances, the 25-year-old has chosen to return to Prenton Park on a two-year deal after enjoying his time here in the 2022/23 campaign.
Hendry represented Scotland at various youth age groups, coming through the youth system at Celtic before joining Raith Rovers, where he won the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2019/20, and was named in the Scottish Championship’s Team of the Season by both PFA Scotland and SPFL in 2021.
Regan then made the move to England with Forest Green, where he made 63 appearances, winning the League Two title in 2021/22, before joining Rovers in January 2023, where he rapidly became a fan favourite with the SWA.
Manager Ian Dawes said: “I'm delighted that Regan has decided to stay with us, especially amid interest from other clubs in both League One and League Two. He's a technically strong player who has shown his ability to impact the game, something which is borne out by his statistics, which put him amongst the top performing midfielders in the League.
“He knows what it takes to get promoted from League Two, and is relishing the challenge of doing that with us.”
Technical Director Nigel Adkins said: “Regan is a player who is about to come into his prime years and has enormous potential. It is a testament to the set up that we have here that he has chosen to continue his development in this critical phase with us, despite interest from League One.”
Regan added: “I got a taste of what Tranmere and the fans are about over the last 5 months, and am happy to commit myself to the Club. I'm ambitious and so is the Club, so it wasn't a difficult decision."
