International Women’s Day 2023: Discover TRIC’s women-only provision

8 March 2023

Ahead of International Women’s Day 2023, here is a detailed list of all of the provision we have available specifically for women here at Tranmere Rovers in the Community.

Women’s Walking Football

One of our most popular sessions here at TRIC is Walking Football, and our women’s group, open for all abilities, takes place every Tuesday from 11am-12pm here at Prenton Park Recreation Centre.

Norma and Georgia recently took up Walking Football after moving over from our Fit Fans 12-week free fitness programme. They tried it out during a Fit Fans session and enjoyed it so much, they decided to stay as part of the group. Georgia says that the group welcomed her in very quickly, and Norma says it helps with her mental health. You can hear both women talk about the benefits of the session here.

If you’d like to find out more about women’s Walking Football, please contact Louise on LouiseW@tranmererovers.co.uk.

Women’s Fit Fans

Fit Fans is a free 12-week fitness programme  which aims to improve the health and fitness of Rovers fans.

We hold separate sessions for men and women, and have specific guest speakers in to talk to the women during the programme.

For example, we recently had visitors from Sexual Health Wirral come in and talk to the group for Cervical Cancer Awareness Week about how to be screened and tested.

If you’d like to join the next Fit Fans programme, you can register your interest with Frankie on FrankieW@tranmererovers.co.uk.

Wildcats and girls' football sessions

Our Wildcats girls' Football sessions are open to girls aged four to 16 who play for a local team and would like some extra training as well as girls who are taking their firsts steps in the game.

The sessions are designed to inspire girls to play football by improving their skills and discipline. We aim for these sessions to be fun and informative, so the girls can take what they have learnt on a week-to-week basis and apply it to a game.

For the girls who do not play for a local team, we work on building up their confidence and skills, so they feel comfortable in a game session and can progress onto a local team if they wish to.

From 20th March, we will be holding Wildcats girls' football sessions every Monday for girls aged 5-11 from 4pm-5pm at Shaftesbury Youth Club for just £3 per session.

Starting the same week on 21st March will be our Wildcats girls' football session every Tuesday for girls aged 5-11 from 5pm-6pm in partnership with Neston Nomads Football Club at Neston High School, also for just £3 per session.

On Wednesday 22nd March, our Wildcats girls' football sessions at New Ferry Village Hall every Wednesday for girls aged 5-11 from 4.30pm-5.30pm begin, again for only £3 per session.

If you’d like to find out more about the various girls’ football sessions on offer, please contact Louise on LouiseE@tranmererovers.co.uk.

We offer various more sessions which women and men, girls and boys can come along to. Drop us a message on any of our social media channels, @TRFCCommunity, to find out more.
