Rovers provide 560 food parcels for people struggling during cost-of-living crisis

31 March 2023

Tranmere Rovers have provided a total of 560 food parcels in the last two months to people struggling during the cost-of-living crisis.

Tranmere Rovers in the Community and Tranmere Rovers Trust have packed and delivered the food parcels to schools and organisations who have then given the parcels to people who need them most, as well as households who have been nominated as those in need of support.

We have been working with Wirral Ways, who provide free and confidential drug and alcohol services across the Wirral, to identify homeless people who would benefit the most from our food parcels.

We have delivered these parcels to housing organisations and hostels where people are staying who may be suffering from a range of issues such as substance misuse, addictions, entrenched rough sleeping, mental health and domestic abuse.

One young mother of four reached out to us to thank us for her food parcel and tell us that she did not have the funds to buy food or drinks for her children, but our delivery came in time for her to be able to put food on the table for them.

She said, “Thanks so much to Tranmere Rovers for this food parcel, it has really come at the right time. I was so relieved when I received this food parcel. I have not been paid and I was so worried about what I was going to feed my children as I had no food or drinks at all. I have four children, aged 15, 12, 5 and 3 and I almost couldn't feed them. The parcel was a godsend!"
