Tranmere Rovers Women reach the final of the Cheshire Senior Cup after a 2-0 victory this afternoon.
Goals from Izzie Arrowsmith and Anya McCready were enough to seal a victory and earn a place in the Cheshire Cup Final for Rovers.
Tranmere started off on the front foot creating several chances in the open 20 minutes but couldn’t convert to open the scoring.
Macclesfield came close through Johnson who curled a shot from 12 yards but Maddock palmed it away.
Rovers’ hard work paid off after McCready won the ball in the middle of the park, drove forward drifting wide and her deflected shot lands at the feel of Arrowsmith who slots home to break the deadlock.
Quickly after Arrowsmith looked to get her second, convinced the ball had gone over the line, shouts from every player on the pitch were waved away by the referee.
Much like the first half, Rovers dominated possession and hit the woodwork on a number of occasions.
Jade Collins came close to doubling the lead for the home side after her volley ricocheted off the crossbar, bouncing the wrong side of the line.
Collins came close again hitting the crossbar but this time McCready was there to head home securing the win for Rovers.
The girls saw the game out, secured their place in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final for the second year running, and are one step closer to regaining their title.
Up next for Tranmere Rovers Women is a trip to the Tameside Stadium to take on Cursor Ashton in the league.
