Tranmere Rovers to host Eid Prayer at Prenton Park

16 March 2023

Tranmere Rovers are pleased to announce that the club, for the first time ever, will be opening its doors at Prenton Park to our local Muslim community to host the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers in April.

Rovers will become the second football club in the UK to host the Eid prayers, on a football pitch and will be working in partnership with our Wirral Deen Centre, Mosque and Community Centre.

Eid-Ul-Fitr follows the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan, were Muslims typically fast by refraining from eating and drinking during daylight hours.

The event will either take place on Friday 21st or Saturday 22nd April which will be announced nearer the time.

The Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers will take place at 9.15am prompt and with gates opening at 8.30am. The prayers will end by 10am were families can go and continue their celebrations together.

‘Eid at Prenton Park’ is open to people and families of all ages, with provisions in place for both men and women to pray on the pitch. Those who attend are asked to bring their own prayer mat with them. In the case of bad weather, an indoor alternative will be in place.
