Tranmere Rovers are delighted to confirm that midfielder Chris Merrie has signed a new one-year contract with the Club.
Merrie joined Rovers from Wigan Athletic two years ago and has made more than 50 appearances for the Club.
The 24-year-old appeared in the starting line-up 33 times in the 2022/23 campaign before an injury picked up at Carlisle United at Easter ended his season.
He is currently undergoing rehabilitation on his knee and is scheduled to return to training in early July.
Merrie said: “I’m made up it’s finally done and I’m just looking forward to getting myself fully fit and getting back into it.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Tranmere. It's a really good club to play for with the fans, the ground, everything about it.
Manager Ian Dawes added: “I’m pleased Chris will be staying with us.
“He’s the type of character we need at the Club. He’s someone who always gives his all for the team and is a very good professional.
“He was unfortunate that his run in the side came to an end because of his injury but the Club has stood by him and we look forward to having him back on the training pitches in the near future.”
