Ian Dawes on the arrivals of Nigel Adkins and Neil Danns

Tranmere Rovers manager Ian Dawes has spoken about the benefits bringing in important members of staff like Nigel Adkins as technical director and Neil Danns as assistant manager can have on his team going forwards.

After his appointment as permanent manager, the arrivals of Adkins and Danns have strengthened the staff at Tranmere Rovers and Dawes talks about how the two of them can bring different strengths to the table.

“I think with Nigel Adkins coming in, everything about him, his experience, also his contacts, is so important for us as well.

“He’s a really good person as well, he’s met everyone in each department and been asking how he can help everybody. He’s such a big character and a big personality to come into the Club, his history at the Club obviously speaks for itself.

“He’s vital to every member of staff and it just helps that team behind the team to create the right environment for players to come into and also for the players to prepare for a promotion push next season.

“His experience is invaluable for me. We speak nearly every day and he’s a great person to speak to and to bounce ideas off, to get a little bit of knowledge in certain areas, and for me personally, he’s great to have on board.

“Neil Danns is another good addition because I look at myself, Parky (Andy Parkinson) and even Dannzy now, the three of us have had similar backgrounds and upbringings, coming through at Liverpool and getting an education there on how the game should be played, and he’s pretty much on the same page as myself and Parky.

“Although he’s got his own ideas which stay in line with what we’re doing, I think he’s a good person to have around and I think we’ve got a really good group of staff now."

Dawes also talks about the importance of developing the current squad of players as well as strengthening this summer.

“Development is massive. We’ve got players like Tom Davies, a really experienced player, but he hasn’t stopped developing and learning, always coming to us and wanting to improve.

"This is the mindset and the environment at the Club that we’re trying to create, is that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still improve as a player, and them improving as players improves the team, and improves the team’s chances of promotion.”
