As the curtain closes on the 2022/23 campaign, a contingent of Hong Kong British nationals will take to the pitch to compete in the BNOhub Hong Konger Cup.
8 teams, which include former Hong Kong professional players will play group stage games at Solar Campus, playing for a place in the Cup Final at Prenton Park.
Organised in collaboration with BNOhub – a Merseyside relocation organisation, the teams have hired the Club’s facilities after learning of the “play on the pitch” package.
Kyle Choi, a striker for Warrington-based Yellow Lion FC expressed his delight at the prospect: “We were keen footballers in Hong Kong, so to play at professional facilities in the UK is a dream come true. We’re all relatively new to the UK and share the view that football can bring people together, we even hope to find a way to work more with Tranmere’s football education department in the near future”.
The tournament will see Yellow Lion Ace FC, White Rice United, Nottingham Merry Men, Yellow Lion Best FC, FC Konger 35+, FC Konger Legends and Birmingham Burgo FC battle it out for a place in the final at Prenton Park on May 20th.
