Match Preview | Mansfield Town (A)

27 November 2023

Tranmere Rovers travel to Mansfield Town on Tuesday 28th November (7.45pm kick-off), looking to build on a positive run of form.

Nigel Adkins’ side arrive at the One Call Stadium unbeaten in three, most recently securing a 3-1 victory over Gillingham at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Rob Apter bagged a brace, either side of a Connor Jennings header, to secure the points. A pair of Brad Walker assists contributed to an excellent team performance.

Mansfield were unbeaten in their first 17 league matches this season, until a 2-1 away defeat to Swindon Town at the weekend.

The Stags won five league matches in a row prior to Saturday and occupy third, an automatic promotion spot.

One to watch: Davis Keillor-Dunn

Davis Keillor-Dunn has starred for Mansfield since moving to the One Call Stadium in January, with an excellent goal record that has helped elevate the East Midlands side to the top three.

The attacking midfielder has found the net 11 times this season. His two braces against Stockport County and Newport County proved to be decisive, and he scored the winner against Salford City two weeks ago.

The 26-year-old bagged six goals and four assists in the second half of the last campaign, after a winter move from Burton Albion.

Before joining the Brewers, Keillor-Dunn had spells with Ross County, Falkirk and Wrexham, and scored 28 goals over two seasons with Oldham Athletic.

Manager: Nigel Clough

Stags manager Nigel Clough played over 600 games in the Football League, winning the League Cup on two occasions with Nottingham Forest.

He signed his first professional deal at the City Ground in 1984, where he featured over 300 times, scoring over 100 goals.

Clough later played for Liverpool and Manchester City among others, before joining Burton Albion as player-manager in 1998. He stayed there until his retirement as a player in 2009, enjoying great success in non-league.

The 57-year-old went on to manage Derby County, Sheffield United and Burton Albion for a second time, and was appointed Mansfield boss in 2020.
