Kristian Dennis prepared for Stockport reunion

27 October 2023

Kristian Dennis has spoken to the press ahead of our meeting with league leaders Stockport County.

Tranmere Rovers travel to Edgeley Park on Saturday 28th October (3pm), looking to pick up a first away win of the league season.

The Rovers forward played for the Hatters from 2013 to 2016, when they were a National League North side.

Stockport are now top of League Two and have won their last nine matches in the division.

ON THE STOCKPORT GAME:

“It’s League Two, anything can happen. Anyone can beat anyone. Going there and getting a win would be a massive statement, to know we can do that. Fingers crossed we can go there, do that, and start a run.”

ON FACING HIS FORMER CLUB:

“It was quite a while ago now. It was on my doorstep. I enjoyed it, no travelling. Good ground to play at. Good set of fans. It’s good to see where they are now but on Saturday, I’ll be hoping to get one over on them. It was Conference North, so training Tuesday and Thursday nights. Considering where they’ve come from, it’s brilliant.”

ON GETTING RESULTS:

“We can play well but the only thing that matters is getting points on the board. The performance against Morecambe was decent. We’re just missing goals at the minute. Fingers crossed they’ll come soon enough and push us up the table.“

ON HIS FITNESS:

“I missed three weeks of pre-season. It's never good to miss pre-season. I felt I kept myself in good shape and kept going. I’ve been available every league game now and that’s the aim for the season. Staying fit, and the more games you play the fitter you get. Hopefully that’ll continue.

ON SCORING GOALS:

“You go out every game to score a goal and hopefully win. That’s never changed for me and won’t. Considering the season I had last year, scoring so many, and not really scoring this season, it does play on your mind a bit. Every game I go into I’m confident I’ll get a chance to score. It’s not happened recently but I still have that belief.

ON OUR LEAGUE POSITION:

“I know it’s early-ish but you can get cut adrift early doors. We’re out the relegation zone. We don’t want to be down there, but we will get results soon and push up.
