Tranmere Rovers defeated Bradford City 2-1 on Tuesday evening, with Nigel Adkins praising the "effort and togetherness" of his side.
The hosts secured their third win of the season thanks to goals from Regan Hendry and Kieron Morris.
It means Rovers climb out of the bottom two, with sights firmly set on pushing on now.
"This was a tough game today, and the players have worked their socks off," said Adkins. "There was a togetherness, an understanding, that Tranmere Rovers grit that you need.
"I'm disappointed that we've conceded from a corner. We knew that physically we'd be down a little bit compared to them, so we're disappointed, but we've responded and that's the big thing.
"Kieron Morris, brilliant. I say to the players, be ready. The opportunity may arise when you least expect it. He's been out of the team, come back in, and what a wonderful goal."
