Tranmere Rovers deliver emergency food parcels to help local homeless people

25 October 2023

Tranmere Rovers have today delivered 50 food parcels to local homeless people and those in emergency need across Birkenhead.

We have been out to several local hostels and housing association accommodations to give parcels full of vital food and drink supplies as well as cleaning products to people with no income.

The hostels we delivered the parcels to help people who may be suffering from a range of issues such as substance misuse, addictions, entrenched rough sleeping, mental health and domestic abuse, many of whom are supported by our friends at Wirral Ways.

Hostels such as those set up by Forum Housing Association, where we delivered the parcels today, offer support services to people who are at risk of, about to become, or are homeless.

They focus on developing confidence, skills, resilience, and positive life choices to enable people to live independently, be self-reliant, and become valued members of their community.

In the midst of the cost-of-living crisis, the hostels greatly appreciate any help we can give towards providing for the people they kindly look after.

One representative from The Beacon in Birkenhead said: “This is going to help all our residents and especially the rough sleepers because they come to us with absolutely nothing, just the shirt on their back, no food, no toiletries, so this is going to help them.

“Thank you so much to Tranmere Rovers for this.

“This will also go towards those who are not on benefits as they’ve been sanctioned for whatever reason and have no income at all. This will help them enormously.”
