Tranmere Rovers Women's undefeated streak in the season persists following a hard-fought 2-1 triumph against Bury FC today.
Lorna Stratton and Katie Bowers Folan scored the crucial goals, securing a vital three-point haul on the road in a gritty performance.
The action began with a swift free-kick for Rovers, as Holly Jones delivered the ball into the box. After a deflection off a Bury defender, it landed at Lorna Stratton's feet, appearing to set her up for a goal, but the referee halted play due to a foul.
Bury mounted a counter-attack, with Greenall delivering an excellent ball into the box, but Size was perfectly positioned to make the collection.
Both sides continued to create opportunities in a fiercely contested battle all over the pitch, but neither could break the deadlock.
The first half saw an additional six minutes of stoppage time, and Rovers capitalized on this as Lorna Stratton netted, but moments later, Bury leveled the score. The referee awarded a penalty to the home side, which Charlton calmly converted with the final kick of the half.
The second half mirrored the intensity of the first, with both teams fiercely battling for control.
As the game progressed, Rovers began to assert their dominance, and Beth Powney made outstanding saves to keep Bury in contention.
Katie Bowers Folan put Rovers ahead after receiving a well-placed pass from Holly Jones, carrying the ball up the field and coolly slotting it into the net.
Tranmere managed to see out the game, earning a well-deserved three points before returning to the Wirral.
