Full-back Connor Wood has spoken of the difficulties of being a free agent, as he continues to settle into life at Tranmere.
The 27-year-old left Leyton Orient in the summer, where he had been since 2021, and joined Rovers at the start of September.
“I’m feeling good. Obviously, I didn’t have a pre-season anywhere, so I’m just getting up to speed with things,” Wood said ahead of this weekend's home game against Accrington. “I’ve settled in well and I’m feeling good fitness-wise.
“It’s mentally difficult as a free agent. Seeing your mates back in pre-season and you’re at home dragging yourself out of bed in the morning. There’s only so much you can do, so it’s just about getting your head round it, sticking at it and being disciplined.
“No matter where you are in the table there’s pressure to get results. Hopefully we can find a bit of stability and kick on now. We’re in the thick of it but we’ve got the ability in the group to be far higher up.
“I haven’t been to Prenton Park yet! It’ll be nice to experience my new home. Stepping out there in front of the crowd on Saturday, I’m looking forward to it.”
