Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins has looked ahead to this weekend’s away match at Barrow.
Rovers travel to Cumbria following four consecutive wins over the festive period, as they climbed to 15th.
ON THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD:
“I'm delighted with the players and how they've applied themselves. The science staff, the coaching staff, nutrition staff, medical staff, everybody has worked so hard, together as one. We look fit, we look strong, some of the football we played was exceptional and we scored goals. Our defensive shape has been really good, everyone's buying in to what we're doing.”
“We scored five goals at Salford. It’s the first time in ten years that the Club scored five goals. We've gone from being behind three times now to win the game. It took us 97 games previously for that to happen. We've won away from home. From my point of view, all the things that we've been doing, behaviours on a consistent basis, basics done well to an elite level, we've got momentum. How do we keep that going? Everybody buying into the standards.”
ON KEEPING THE RUN GOING:
“We've got standards, we've got to keep driving them standards. We've got to keep making sure that we're constantly learning, it's a learning environment. Of course, things will go against us, but we're enjoying being resilient. We're enjoying dealing with the adversity that comes with the games of football. We're enjoying being together, coming in, talking. It's a good place that we've got at the moment, and we've got to keep it that way.”
“They’re a very good side, they've done well consistently. We're away from home so obviously we've got to make sure that we go there with the right mindset and with the belief that we can go and win because we're in a good run of form. However, we're under no illusions it's going to be a tough game. Pete's done a great job there, they've got some good players, they're very effective in what they do, and we have to respect that.”
ON TEAM NEWS:
“I'm really pleased that Kristian Dennis has joined in training, I thought he might be out for a bit longer. I’d suggest it's too early for him for the weekend but he's a lot closer. Luke Norris is progressing well. Jake Leake is progressing and so is Jéan Belehouan.”
