Tranmere Rovers are delighted to confirm the signing of Declan Drysdale on a one-year deal.

The Birkenhead-born defender is a product of Tranmere’s youth system, and left to join Coventry City in January 2019 before moving to Newport County in 2022, where he spent two years.

The 24-year-old is now returning to where it all started, and will bolster Nigel Adkins’ defensive options by providing a strong, composed presence at the heart of the back line, now with 88 senior appearances under his belt.

On returning to Tranmere, Declan said: “It was a no-brainer. When I got the call, I just wanted to get in and prove myself, show what I can do and happily it’s all done now and I can’t wait to get going again.”

Manager Nigel Adkins said: “Having impressed since joining in pre-season training and being involved in the three games so far, we are delighted that former Academy player Declan Drysdale has returned home to Tranmere Rovers to join our hard-working, ambitious squad.”

Declan is now available for sponsorship for the 2024/25 season - please email DebbieQ@tranmererovers.co.uk if you are interested in sponsoring him.
