Match Preview | Gillingham (A)

9 March 2024

Tranmere Rovers visit Gillingham on Saturday 9th March (3pm kick-off), looking for back-to-back wins in League Two.

Nigel Adkins’ side beat Sutton United 1-0 at Prenton Park last weekend, picking up all three points thanks to a late strike from winger Rob Apter.

Gillingham haven’t lost a league game at Priestfield since Boxing Day, drawing four of their five home games in the division since the turn of the year.

The Gills are ninth and aiming for a Play-Off position this season but suffered a setback in midweek, after a 2-0 defeat at Barrow.

Rovers were victorious in November’s reverse fixture at Prenton Park, beating the Kent side 3-1 thanks to an Apter double either side of a Connor Jennings’ strike.

Team news:

Manager Nigel Adkins said pre-match: “It was a very competitive game against Sutton. We’ve got one or two players with little things; we’re going to have a work through of where everyone is. I’ve got one or two decisions to go and make, which is important.”
