Tranmere v Mansfield to be dedicated Her Game Too matchday

11 March 2024

Tranmere Rovers’ home game against Mansfield Town on Tuesday 12th March (7.45pm kick-off) will be our dedicated #HerGameToo matchday, following International Women’s Day this Friday.

Our fantastic team from Wirral Grammar School for Girls who recently won their EFL Utilita Girls Cup Regional Finals to make it to Wembley and will play on the pitch in the National Final before the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Final, will be applauded onto the pitch at half time.

Tranmere Rovers Women U14s will be conducting a bucket collection before the game to help raise money for Tranmere Rovers Women & Girls. Our U10s and U12s will be flag bearers, and members of the U16s, the development team and first team will take part in the half time crossbar challenge.

There will also be a female-inspired playlist played over the speakers at Prenton Park, and there will be an opportunity to get your photo taken in our #HerGameToo x Tranmere Rovers picture frame.

Although thankfully rare at Tranmere games, sexist abuse or harassment will not be tolerated when it happens, and by working closely with the #HerGameToo campaign we hope to send a message to all women thinking of coming to a match that we are committed to ensuring Prenton Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters.

Since the campaign's launch, #HerGameToo has surveyed over 400 female football fans to build a wider picture of the experiences they have faced when attending games, and it is clear from that work that many have had unacceptable experiences.

Tranmere Rovers' Her Game Too player advocate Brad Walker said:

"Her Game Too embodies the spirit of inclusivity and equity in football, and as players, we stand united in our support. This dedicated fixture by Tranmere Rovers is a testament to the progress we're making in ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, feels valued and welcomed in our beautiful game and to Prenton Park. I am proud to be the player advocate for Her Game Too, having two girls myself it's important to me that the game continues to improve and be a more inclusive environment for women and girls."

We’d like to encourage all fans to support the campaign on the evening of the game.
