Zoumana Bakayogo

Date of birth

175 cm

Côte d'Ivoire

Zoumana Bakayogo is currently in his second spell with the Club having played for Tranmere between 2009-2013.

The former Ivory Coast U23 international made 128 appearances during his first stint and we hope he can aid us this year in the EFL with another string of solid defensive performances.

Although he has represented Ivory Coast at U23 level through his heritage, he was born and raised in Paris and represented European giants Paris Saint Germain at youth level before moving to Millwall at the age of 20. Bakayogo would spend two seasons at Millwall and made 16 appearances including a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2006/07 season.

From Millwall, he would move back to France for the 2008/09 season to UJA Alfortville. From there, he would join Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer and enjoyed four seasons in his first spell at the Club.

After four successful seasons at Tranmere, Bakayogo signed for Leicester City at the start of the 2013/2014 season. He went on loan to Yeovil Town in the January of that year, however, a ruptured ACL injury forced him to return back to his parent club.

Bakayogo left Leicester at the end of the 2014/15. He was out of action for over a season until Crewe Alexandra signed him mid-way through the 2015/16 season and he made 70 appearances for the Cheshire side before re-joining Tranmere Rovers for the 2018/19 season.
