Joe Murphy is a highly experienced goalkeeper, who was born in Dublin on August 21st, 1981.  

Having commenced his footballing journey at Prenton Park in 1998, he made a significant impact during his time at the Club, being part of the Rovers team that reached the League Cup Final in 2000 before losing at Wembley to Leicester City. 

Over the course of an illustrious career, he went on to represent other prominent clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, Scunthorpe United, Coventry City, and Huddersfield Town and has made over 600 career appearances. Murphy also showcased his talents on the international stage, having been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland. 

Having rejoined the Club in 2020, Murphy recently signed a new one-year contract at Prenton Park. This will see him stay on as both a player and goalkeeping coach for the 2023/24 season, passing on his invaluable knowledge and experience to other goalkeepers in the squad.
