Wallasey-born Jay Spearing put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Prenton Park, becoming Mike Jackson’s first signing as Tranmere Rovers manager.
Spearing progressed through the ranks at Liverpool’s Academy at an early age and would go on to make a first-team breakthrough for the Reds.
The 31-year-old midfielder made a total of 55 appearances in all competitions, winning the 2012 League Cup during his Anfield stay.
EFL experience followed in the form of spells at Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool, with Spearing clocking up over 250 appearances across the Sky Bet Championship and League One.
An experienced leader on the pitch, the tenacious midfielder captained both Bolton and Blackpool and brings leadership qualities to Prenton Park.
