Celebrity Charity Football Match

Tranmere Rovers are hosting a Celebrity Charity Football Match on Sunday 21st October, 3pm kick-off to raise funds for two important charities.

Reality TV stars including The Only Way is Essex's James Argent and 2018 Love Island participant Frankie Foster will be gracing the Prenton Park pitch, with all moneys raised being donated to Tranmere Rovers In The Community and James Bulger Memorial Trust.

Alongside Argent and Foster, other household names lacing up their boosts will be EastEnders duo Dean Gafney and Jake Wood, GeordieShore's Sam Gowland, TV personality Calum Best and many more. Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans will also be in attendance, taking his seat in the dugout as a manager for one of the celebrity team's.

The game will be played in a friendly and competitive way but with real importance as all funds raised will go towards two charitable organisations who work tirelessly within the local community each and every day. This year marks 25 years since James sadly passed away, and in his memory, his mother Denise decided to launch a charity to benefit and support young people who are disadvantaged by reason of having become a part of bereavement, a victim of crime, hatred or bullying.

Meanwhile, Tranmere Rovers In The Community works with thousands of people each year, with the four core themes of their work being in health, education, social inclusion and sports participation.

Tickets for the game are now on sale, with the prices just £10 for adults and £5 for children, with all seating based in the Main Stand. Once the Main Stand has sold out, tickets will be available to purchase in the Essar Kop for all spectators.

For all those who wish to watch the game in the luxury of hospitality at PrentonPark, you can do so for just £25 for adults and £15 for children. The hospitality package includes access to the popular Gold Lounge, a delicious hot meal, the chance to purchase drinks from the bar and the opportunity to meet the players for autographs after the game has finished.

To purchase tickets, please either visit the ticket office, located at PrentonPark, or call 03330 144452 and select option 1/2. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets online at www.trfctickets.co.uk.

The full list of celebrities confirmed is below...

John Aldridge - John Aldridge was born in Liverpool but represented The Republic of Ireland at international level and has 19 international goals. ‘Aldo’, began his career at then Fourth Division side Newport County in 1979. After his first season there, they were promoted up to the Third Division and the then 21-year-old flourished under the opportunities he was given. In March of the 1983/1984 season after 170 appearances and 70 goals he left Newport to join Oxford United.

Oxford would rise meteorically between the 1983/1984 and 1985/1986 season as they got three straight promotions from the third to the top tier of English football. Oxford’s emergence was paralleled with Aldo’s rise to the top and this was highlighted by the 90 goals he scored for them in just 132 appearances.

His form warranted the interest of Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool and he signed for the Reds in 1987 for £750,000. 63 goals in just 3 years at Anfield saw him become a cult hero there but, in September 1989, Real Sociedad splashed out £1,000,000 and he re-payed them with 40 goals in two seasons.

From the Basque region of Spain to the Wirral it was for Aldridge and he signed for Tranmere Rovers in 1991 and scored 22 goals in his first season with us. Not many players can be legends at more than one club but after 140 goals in 248 appearances for Tranmere his respect is well earnt. Adored by the fans after playing as well as taking us to Wembley as a manager we cannot wait to see him back in front of the Super White Army.

Andy Robinson - Andy Robinson was born in Birkenhead and began his career at Cammell Lairds before he joined Tranmere Rovers for the 2002/2003 season. After failing to appear in his first spell with Rovers he signed for Swansea City.

With the Swans, the now 38-year-old  won the League one title during the 2007/2008 season, the Football League Trophy in the 2005/2006 season and the FAW premier cup twice in the 2004/2005 season as well as the season after. 195 appearances and 44 goals later, he signed for Leeds United. He played for Leeds between 2008 and 2010 but had two loan spells at Tranmere before he signed permanently for the Rovers again in the January of the 2010/2011 season.

Robinson displayed his talents 77 times for Tranmere and scored 17 goals in the process and after three years back on the Wirral he left and joined Shrewsbury Town in July 2014 but announced his retirement in March 2015 due to a knee injury. A short stay at Semi-professional side Stockport County followed in 2015 but he hung his boots up for good and decided to play at amateur level for Rock Ferry Social.
