Charlie Jolley and Lindsey Smith named Rovers Community Players of the Season

11 April 2024

Tranmere Rovers players Charlie Jolley and Lindsey Smith have been named our Community Players of the Season for the men’s and women’s teams respectively.

Both players have gone above and beyond in their participation at player visit events with Tranmere Rovers in the Community this season.

Lindsey joined the Club through Tranmere Rovers in the Community’s provision as a child, and is now our longest-serving player and captain of the women’s team.

She has visited several Wildcats girls’ football sessions this year, similar to the ones where she first started. She also helped give out the medals to the team from Wirral Grammar School for Girls at the local finals of the Utilita Girls Cup, before the girls eventually went on to win the national final of the competition at Wembley.

Charlie spoke to us when the men’s first team squad came along to help pack food hampers for those in need in December last year, and has been extremely confident and kind to everyone at all of his player visit events at both local schools and care homes.

He also helped arrange for the squad to sign a shirt for a family who had recently lost a loved one. He was approached by a lady on behalf of the bereaved family at the start of a matchday last year, heard her story, and arranged to meet the lady at the Club Shop after the game to give her a signed shirt for the family.

Congratulations, Charlie and Lindsey, and thanks for all your help with our Community projects this season from everyone at Tranmere Rovers in the Community.
