The Match
Sky Bet League Two
Tranmere Rovers vs. Cheltenham Town
Saturday 11th August 2018
3:00pm at Prenton Park
Team News
We opened our season away at Stevenage last week, a game which seen the debuts of Jake Caprice and Jonny Smith as well as Zoumana Bakayogo, Ollie Banks and Cole Stockton making their first league appearances since re-signing this summer.
Rovers go into the game with long term absentees Liam Ridehalgh (Knee), Adam Buxton (Double Hernia) and Evan Gumbs (Leg) still not available for Saturday.
Cheltenham didn’t get off to the desired start last week as they fell to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Crawley.
In terms of transfers, The Robins have acquired 13 new players including name such as Chris Hussey, Johnny Mullins, Ben Tozer and Conor Thomas. Town did sell striker Mo Eisa for a healthy sum in excess of £1.5 million to Championship side Bristol City so they will be hoping that their new summer signings can fill that void.
Head to Head
Our first encounter with Cheltenham came in 2002 when Rovers came out on top with a 1—0 victory courtesy of a Stuart Barlow goal. Our two other victories came in 2007 and then 2008.
