Caprice previews New Year's trip to Macclesfield

30 December 2018

Tranmere Rovers defender Jake Caprice is relishing the New Year’s Day Sky Bet League Two fixture away at Macclesfield Town.

Micky Mellon’s side are set to be backed by over 1,000 of the SWA as TRFC head to the Moss Rose aiming to get back to winning ways in Cheshire.

Following on from Saturday’s goalless draw with Yeovil Town at Prenton Park, Rovers picked up a point as they ended a successful 2018 in front of their own supporters to sit ninth in the fourth-tier.

And Caprice knows that Sol Campbell’s Silkmen, who Rovers beat 1-0 under the Prenton Park floodlights back in October, will be fired up for the New Year’s Day game.

He said: “We beat them (Macclesfield) 1-0 here so I’m sure that they will be eager to try and get one back over us.

“But it is another game and another chance to get three points on the board.

“The games are coming thick and fast but in-between games we are recovering well, and we are doing everything right.”

Caprice has become a key member of Tranmere’s defence since his summer move from Leyton Orient.

The 26-year-old Londoner has made 29 appearances for the Club after his switch to the Wirral.

Caprice revealed how much he has enjoyed settling into life with TRFC in his first six-months at Prenton Park, reserving praise for his team-mates and management team, and Rovers’ depth in defensive positions.

Caprice continued: “I have loved it. All the boys have been brilliant with me, the manager has been brilliant with me, Jacko as well. They have encouraged me to play my stuff and I think I have settled in quite well.

“I came in at the start of the season, there is competition for places at the Club so obviously you have to play well week-in-week-out as if you don’t, somebody is ready to take your shirt.”
