Ferrier looking forward to Portsmouth test

9 August 2019

Forward Morgan Ferrier is looking forward to testing himself in front of the Fratton Park atmosphere as Tranmere Rovers travel to Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Micky Mellon’s side will play their first away game back in Sky Bet League One is an outing on the South Coast against Kenny Jackett’s Pompey.

Ferrier, 24, who arrived at Prenton Park last week, said: “Naturally as a player you want to be playing against the big teams in the big stadiums with the big crowds so you can show what you can do but ultimately when the game starts you have to block that all out and do a job for the team and what the gaffer wants you to do.

“What I realised last year in League One, every game is tough, and you have to take every game as it comes and just try and get the three points.

"Every team has their own individual style and challenges. Portsmouth will have their own style and all we can do is prepare right and come Saturday give our best and see where it takes us.”

The Londoner has been impressed with the standards of the Rovers squad in their training sessions since he moved to the Wirral.

He added: "You can see it from training, all the lads demand high standards of each other and you can’t be off your game, you have to train at 100% every day and naturally that’s going to get the best out of everyone and it will translate onto the pitch."
