Setting the scene…

A trip to the Stadium of Light awaits Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night when they visit Sunderland in Sky Bet League One, 7:45pm kick-off.

Micky Mellon’s men head to the North East sitting in 19th in the third-tier, following on from Friday’s night’s 1-1 home draw with Southend United at Prenton Park.

Sunderland slipped to a 1-0 defeat away at promotion-hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, in Phil Parkinson’s first game as the Black Cats’ boss.

From their 12 league outings, Sunderland are 10th in the division on 21 points having lost their last two.

Team News

Corey Blackett-Taylor will be assessed ahead of the game in the North East after being forced off against Southend.

Harvey Gilmour, Calum Woods, Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs are all absentees, as are Ollie Banks, Ishmael Miller and Morgan Ferrier.

Midfielder Darren Potter is a doubt for the clash in the North East after missing out on Friday.
