Micky looks ahead to Coventry

11 October 2019

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon knows his side are capable of causing Coventry City problems at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium on Sunday lunchtime, but he is wary of the threat that the Sky Blues pose.

Rovers head down to the Midlands for a Sky Bet League One fixture, which will be televised on Sky Sports.

And Mellon is looking forward to seeing his players go up against a team who currently find themselves in the top six following a good start to the season, having lost just once in their first 11 games.

Mellon said: “We are looking forward to it, we know that we are capable of causing them problems, we have shown that in the past, the evidence in the past definitely says that we are able to cause the better teams in this league big problems.

We have to work on the consistency of it, we have to keep working day-to-day and game-to-game and keep improving all the time."

Mellon feels that the test against Mark Robins’ men will be a difficult one, and he has challenged his Tranmere players to hit the right levels of performance.

He added: “I think we’ve played some very good teams already in this division and Coventry will be another one. We know how difficult it is to win the right to perform, and we know that Sunday won’t be any different.

“We know as a group that we have to go out there, and it’s us hitting the right level of intensity on the pitch and the quality will take care of itself.”
