Borthwick-Jackson can't wait to get going

2 September 2019

Left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson “can’t wait to get going” at Tranmere Rovers after he put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United on Monday.

The 22-year-old links up with Micky Mellon’s side for the duration of the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One campaign and will be available for selection ahead of Saturday afternoon’s home fixture with Gillingham at Prenton Park.

And Borthwick-Jackson, who came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford, has made 10 Premier League for United which all came in the 2015/16 term.

The Mancunian is relishing the prospect of pulling on a Rovers shirt and playing his part for Tranmere.

Borthwick-Jackson said: “I’m delighted, and I can’t wait to get started.

“It has been good so far and all the boys have been good with me so I’m looking forward to being reunited with them.

“It’s always tough coming up into a new division but hopefully I can come in and help add to the quality and get as many points as we can at the end of the season.

“I think it’s a case of me getting back to my best and showcasing what I can do to help Tranmere finish as high up the league table as possible.

“The manager was keen, and he wanted me and I’m looking forward to working with him and that’s half the battle to have a manager like that. He said he knows my quality and he wants me to get back enjoying my football.

“Hopefully we can continue to build and get a string of positive results and I’m buzzing to get started.“
