Micky looking forward to Wycombe test

21 February 2020

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon expects a tough challenge when his side visit promotion-chasing Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, but he is looking forward to the test ahead.

Rovers journey down to Adams Park to contest a Sky Bet League One fixture against Gareth Ainsworth’s Chairboys, who sit third in the division.

And Micky had his say on the game down in Buckinghamshire this weekend, when he spoke to the local media.

Mellon said: “They absolutely have a way of playing that gets them results. You see that they have evolved, and nobody earns the right to get anything against them unless you play really, really well.

“They are at the right end of the table, they have a good way of playing that gets them results, and we know all about that. They are hard to stop if you are not on top of your game, but we have proved in the past that we are able to deal with that.

“We’re really looking forward to the game, and we’ll go down there and look to try and pick up the points because it is an important time of the season for us.”

With Rovers aiming to get themselves out of the relegation places in the third-tier, Mellon knows that the Club has some “massive” games coming up.

He added: “Every game now for us is very, very important. Every game we should be very, very motivated for. We have some massive games coming up and we are really looking forward to it and we are ready for the challenge.

“We are looking forward to the game. We know that it is going to be tough, but we will go all out to make sure that we make it tough for Wycombe as well.

“It’s a real test for us as we’re coming up against a very good Wycombe team.”
