Tranmere Rovers midfielder, Jay Spearing, surprises pupils of St George’s Primary School

19 November 2021

Last week pupils from St George’s Primary School won the chance to represent Tranmere Rovers in the regional final of the EFL Kids Cup and today Jay Spearing took the afternoon out to surprise them.

The Rovers midfielder, who went to St George’s Primary himself, visited the pupils of Year 6 in their assembly and presented the team with their trophy and certificates that he had signed for the squad.

After the awards ceremony, Jay took the time to answer a few questions from the year group and to talk about his career as a professional footballer.

Talking about his visit Jay said:

“After finding out about St George’s Football team winning the competition I straight away offered to come and pay them a visit.

Having been a pupil at the School myself and played for the team, I wanted to come in a talk to the pupils to show them what is possible if they stick at it and work hard.

It’s important for us as players to take time out like this and visit the local community wherever possible, it’s important for me and for the Club too.

Good Luck to the lads in the next round, I’ll be keeping an eye on how they get on and hope they get to Wembley”

We once again would like to wish the team good luck in the next round, to keep up to date with everything that happens in the community CLICK HERE.
