Tranmere Rovers super fan, Richy Aldred, is running five marathons in five days to raise money for Tranmere Rovers in the Community and Mind Charity.
On Wednesday 9th June Richy will begin his journey in Newcastle and will be making his way to Whitley Bay, Northumberland before heading back to Newcastle on the fifth and final day.
Speaking ahead of his challenge Richy said:
“Back at the start of COVID I put quite a bit of weight on and I couldn’t run five minutes if i’m honest, I was in a bad way both physically and emotionally. I just started running and running, getting a bit fitter to a point where I could run half a marathon quite easily, so I wanted to do something to push myself but also raise money.
Although I live up in Newcastle now, I still have this fond memory of when Tranmere Rovers in the Community came into my primary school as a kid and I thought it was the best thing in the world.
During the start of COVID-19 the stuff they were doing, ringing round and looking after the elderly the dementia sessions I just wanted to do something to help them. Even though I’ve been in Newcastle a long time now, i’ve still got that love for Birkenhead and wanted to give something back, I also know that if I was a kid during COVID I would of been one of the kids Tranmere Rovers in the Community would of had to help so that’s another reason I am doing it”
