Hawkes: I'll give it my all

2 September 2021

New signing Josh Hawkes is looking to make an instant impact on the Wirral after signing for Micky Mellon's side on a season-long loan deal.

Hawkes became Mellon's final signing of the summer transfer window, with Rovers beating a race against the clock to capture the services of the highly-rated 22-year-old.

Hawkes said: "I'm buzzing. It was late in the day, I'm just happy it all went through in time to be a Tranmere player."

"I had a really good season last year, I was hoping for more first-team opportunities last year and it didn't quite come. I started pre-season with Sunderland and they felt the best thing for me was to come out and get some games, so I'm buzzing to be here, to play as much as I can and help the team as much as I can every week. I don't think you can beat playing in a first-team environment at a club like this which is so big."

"I came through at Hartlepool, I played a little bit in League Two, unfortunately, we dropped down to the Conference at the time, but I've had experience of being in a first-team before and hopefully I can push on here."

"I like to take risks, I'll get at people, I'll try and create as many chances as possible, but most of all I'll work hard for the team and I'll give it my all."

"I spoke to him (Micky Mellon) this morning, he was positive about how he sees me and how he sees me in the team."

"I've seen the squad this morning, I think we've got a really good squad here, that can hopefully push on this season and finish as high as we possibly can. Personally, I'd like to score goals and create goals. I'm really happy to be here and hopefully I can push on!"

Josh is available to sponsor for the 2021/22 season. For further information, please email debbieq@tranmererovers.co.uk
