6 November 2023

Tranmere Rovers Women clinched a crucial victory on Sunday with a 4-3 win against Curzon Ashton in a thrilling match.

Goals by Anya McCready, Amy Shannon, Cloe Robinson, and Jess Brady secured the win for Rovers after a hard-fought contest against the Manchester side.

Right from the start, Rovers were on the attack, dominating the game and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Anya McCready opened the scoring by capitalising on a rebound from Amy Shannon's shot that the goalkeeper parried away.

Maintaining their control, Tranmere doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Amy Shannon hammered a powerful shot into the top corner, leaving the Curzon keeper with no chance to save.

At halftime, Tranmere Women held a commanding lead, having displayed a dominant performance in the first half.

Curzon emerged stronger in the second half, swiftly scoring through their captain, Amy Smith.

Undeterred, Rovers extended their lead once more as Cloe Robinson seized an opportunity from a corner and scored.

Despite the visitors exerting pressure and finding the net again through Amy Smith, Tranmere remained resilient. Smith's third goal from a free kick seemed to secure a draw for both teams.

In added time, a free kick for Rovers saw Jess Brady's spectacular shot finding the top corner, granting Tranmere the winning goal and all three points in a thrilling conclusion to an action-packed game.

The intense battle ended in Tranmere Rovers Women claiming a well-deserved victory, setting the stage for their upcoming league match against Fleetwood Town Wrens with a 2pm kickoff.
