Tranmere Rovers Women's remarkable season start continued as they clinched another three points against Fleetwood Town Wrens on Sunday afternoon.
In an intense showdown, Rovers Women triumphed 2-1 over Fleetwood Town, extending their undefeated streak this season. Anya McCready and Katie Bowers Folan were the heroes of the match, securing the victory with their impressive goals.
The initial scoring opportunity fell to the visiting team, who unleashed a shot from 18 yards out after gaining possession in midfield. Nevertheless, their attempt posed no challenge to Size, the composed goalkeeper who collected the ball with ease.
McCready wasted no time and swiftly gave Rovers the lead. She picked up the ball, made a powerful run through the midfield, and fired a shot from a distance that found the bottom right corner of the net.
Buoyed by their early success, Rovers continued to assert their dominance, creating multiple goal-scoring chances and maintaining control of the ball. However, Fleetwood was granted a penalty for a handball incident, which the visitors' striker calmly converted, levelling the score.
Unfazed by the equaliser, Tranmere Rovers Women persevered in their commanding style of play. Just before halftime, they earned a corner, and Bowers Folan capitalised on a perfectly delivered cross from Doyle, heading the ball home to restore Rovers' lead.
The second half provided ample excitement for the home team, with both Arrowsmith and Brady finding the back of the net. Unfortunately, both goals were disallowed, leaving Rovers with a narrow lead as the game headed into its final stages.
With a solid defensive performance from the front line to the back, Rovers managed to fend off Fleetwood's attacks, securing a valuable three points.
Up next for Tranmere Rovers Women is a journey to the City Academy Stadium for the Women's Super Cup Final against Cheadle Town Stingers, with a kick-off time of 7pm.
