Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins praised both teams for a hard-fought encounter on a tricky pitch in his side’s 1-0 defeat at Barrow.
“It was a wondergoal from the lad probably ten minutes before the end of the game.
“Two well-organised sides. Barrow have not been beaten at home all season.
“Great credit to both sets of players ‘cause it was an energy-sapping pitch.
“I’ve lost Harvey Saunders with him slipping on it with a hamstring injury. Great credit to both sets of players, I must say.
“Our supporters were great again getting behind the lads and I thought we were going to get something from the game.
“In the end, we put Josh Hawkes on, he hits the post, it’s going in but it hits a bobble and then hit the post to go outside the post instead of into the goal.
“So frustrating for us but I must say the attitude, the application, the work rate, the commitment of the players was phenomenal again today."
