Nigel Adkins has given great praise to his Tranmere squad, after they bounced back from consecutive defeats to beat Sutton United 1-0 at Prenton Park.
Rob Apter’s 87th minute strike was the difference as Rovers picked up three more valuable points, after a tough week on the road with two long journeys.
“It's the right result. It was an important result,” said Adkins. “Great credit to the players. We've had two long journeys this week, and you could see the way the opposition are, the size of the opposition.
“You've got to compete, and the players did great. I would’ve liked us to have passed the ball better in the first half and be better in possession of the football.
“Great credit to the players because they ground it out. Their goalkeeper has made several really good saves, situations that we've created.
“The application, you've seen it, the character that they've shown. We've had to grind this result out today. The mission was to win the game, they’ve achieved that now.”
