Hill ahead of Barrow encounter

22 April 2021

Tranmere Rovers manager Keith Hill has previewed Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Barrow at Prenton Park.

Rovers secured a 1-0 win away at Bradford City on Tuesday and they will return to their home ground as they host Rob Kelly’s Bluebirds.

And Hill spoke to the local media on Thursday and said that he is taking it “each game as it comes.”

Hill said: “We’re just playing each game as it comes, we’ve still got a desire to get to the top three, and while that is possible and it is possible, we are still optimistic and fighting for that opportunity but at this moment in time, we are getting the players prepared for the performance on Saturday, and most importantly, getting the three points.

“We need to enjoy and embrace the little bit of pressure of achievement, and we can’t tighten up. We’ve kept three clean sheets in the last four games, it’s a solid base to build on and we want to build a three-point result, but I want the players to enjoy and embrace the journey that we are on over 46 games and nothing’s been decided yet.

“Throughout a season you’ll have rough patches but it’s collectively how you try to get out of that situation and how you continue to rise.

“We’re going into three games where they are must win games, and we are looking forward to those challenges."

Hill provided an update on his team selection for this weekend’s clash.

He added: “We’ve got no suspensions. The only major injury worry we’ve got at this moment in time is obviously Scotty, but we have got players who are playing with injuries and under different circumstances they wouldn’t be playing, but they are key players for us and it’s important that we have continuity but also that spontaneity, where we can change the course of a game with our substitutes and starting line-up.”
