Keith Hill relishing return to league action

16 March 2021

Keith Hill says that Tranmere Rovers’ trip to Grimsby Town on Wednesday night is another challenge he squad are relishing.

Rovers return to Sky Bet League Two action against the Mariners and Blundell Park following on from Sunday’s Papa John’s Trophy Final.

And Hill gave his thoughts on TRFC’s next clash on the road in Lincolnshire.

Hill said: “We are all ready to go and take up the challenges of the 13 games that we have got remaining in the league.

“We’re excited once again, it’s another opportunity and we see every game as an opportunity. We are not playing the league table. We are playing Grimsby who will back themselves in any individual game.

“Looking at the group that we have got, we have trained, and they have been excellent and there has been a brilliant bounce from the weekend’s disappointment, and everybody's come in with an energy and a smile on their face.

“The desire of the squad of players to be successful and out of 64 teams, we were runners-up in that competition. It was a marvellous campaign for us, and success stimulates success in the big games, and we have got 13 big games left to play.

“We’ll take the positives out of the cup campaign and we’ll take the energy that we have had in the cup campaign into the remainder of the league campaign.

“It’s a difficult game and in any sport, you have to be capable of fighting, and train like you want to compete. Performances have to have that element of fight, and we have got a lot of fight, a lot of spirit, a lot of determination and desire which are all key ingredients of any successful team.

“We need to be successful over the next 13 games and we’ll start with Grimsby.

“We trust the players. There is a massive trust and relationship being built everyday between the players and the staff.

“The players know the demands and we can’t keep reiterating how difficult it is. It’s our pleasure, it’s our joy and it’s our passion and I’m mindful of the fact of what we want to achieve in these 13 challenges on behalf of the supporters.”
