Jay Spearing says he is excited to experience playing in a big match at Prenton Park in front of the SWA.
Spearing, who was crowned the Club’s Player of the Season, earlier this week. has attended many TRFC matches in his younger days as a supporter, and knows exactly the positive impact the SWA can make.
Spearing said: “We had a little glimpse of it during the middle of the season when the fans came back for two games, and the atmosphere then was fantastic, now they are coming back for an occasion where we will need them more than ever.
“They are going to be our 12th man and they will push us in a big game come Thursday night and I’m really looking forward to experiencing an electric night at Prenton Park and it is one that all the lads are excited about.”
Spearing is expecting a difficult test when Morecambe arrive on the Wirral, but he is confident that TRFC can secure a positive result.
He added: “We know that Morecambe are a very good side. They have had an excellent season themselves and they will be confident too, but I believe on a personal point of view, that if our players turn up over the next two games, which I’m sure that they will do, we will have nothing to worry about.
“We’ve had plenty of time to prepare, and we’ve had some tough, long sessions. Dawesy and Parky have shown what they want us to do, and we’ve enjoyed it and knuckled down and we’re ready to go.
“It will be a difficult test, but it is one that we are relishing.
“They have got some really good players. Their gaffer has got them working hard for each other and they have had some fantastic results throughout the season, but it is now about who can hold their nerve over these two games.
“We’ve worked all season and played 46 games to get where we are now and we need to enjoy these two games, looking forward to Thursday first, we need to enjoy it, relish it and express what we are about.
“We have got ourselves into a position that we are all looking forward to and that we are ready for.”
